Maintenance
HIDDEN FENCE CENTRAL COAST & HUNTER
Maintenance
Generally speaking, a high-quality and properly installed hidden dog fence won’t require much maintenance. After the Hidden Fence is installed and set up and the dog has received some training, it is largely a case of ‘set and forget’ apart from replacing a battery in the dogs collar. Medium to large dogs the battery lasts approx. 18-24 months and for smaller dog approx. 6 months.
Your dog will be safely and securely contained within the boundaries of the Hidden Fence whenever they are wearing their linked collar. Our professional-grade DogWatch® brand systems come with either a 3-year warranty on DIY products or a 5-year warranty on electronic equipment for professionally installed products. These are products which are durable and are built to last.
However, there could be minor maintenance required from time-to-time – additions can be made to the system or a landscaping project for example may cause an issue which could require some attention.
Replacement of batteries
The batteries on some brands of electronic dog collars can last as little as 30 days or need recharging every night. But our high-quality DogWatch® electronic collars have a battery life of between six months and two years, depending on the size and type of receiver on the collar. DogWatch® receiver collars are engineered for efficiency and reliability and maximize battery life, with the help of specially-designed software. The advanced SmartFence systems can even notify you by text message if the receiver battery is running low so you know when it is time for it to be switched over.
Replacement batteries for the collars can be purchased from our online store and are easily changed over by the user.
Hidden Fence wire breaks
Our DogWatch® hidden fence systems are tough and built to last. Our dog wire cable is the strongest and long lasting in the industry. It has a special coating on the outside to last approx.. 10 years above ground in the harsh Australian UV light and even longer when buried.
But sometimes uncontrollable forces and accidents can happen, causing wire breaks. Natural disasters and landscaping mishaps are the most common causes of wire breaks in hidden fences – including floods, lawn aeration or edging works, tree removals, robot mowers and sprinkler system installations or maintenance. A wire break will require attention as soon as possible. We have a sniffer that can locate the break so we can fix it with ease.
Your DogWatch® transmitter will notify you if your system has a wire break by sounding an alarm.
SmartFence systems can also alert you to a wire break on the SmartFence App or via text message or email.
If a wire break does occur, the best and easiest way to fix it is to call in the professionals.
At Hidden Fence Central Coast & Hunter we offer ongoing after sales service and maintenance within our large service area. None of the competitors offer this…none!
It is recommended that you keep your dog on a lead until a wire break is repaired as most dogs will work it out. Whether it takes 10 days or 10 months they usually work it out.
